The California Wildlife Center has treated more than 60,000 wildlife patients in its 25-year history, and is the only facility in Los Angeles authorized to treat a variety of wild species and their young, including Mule Deer fawns, coyote pups, and hatchling songbirds. The CWC team fields hundreds of calls each day from locals in need of advice regarding Southern California wildlife, as well as from those who have found an animal in distress. In addition, the organization is fighting to conserve the habitat of their patient’s wild relatives, hoping to subside the effects of human encroachment on wildlife and their ecosystem. The CWC is frequently educating the public in schools and other community groups, helping to teach lessons of conservation, wildlife rehabilitation, and environmental stewardship to audiences of all ages. The center also provides veterinary students with professional training in wildlife rehabilitation, helping to educate the next generation of wildlife caretakers.
